Bio:

I guess the best place to start is the beginning.

I remained in Nashville after graduation, working at Western Electric and Nashville Dental Lab.  In April '64 I became a Metro Firefighter.

In October 1965, I met just the right girl for me.  Her name was Brenda Dixon.  She became my wife on December 4, '65.  "Uncle Sam" provided us with an 18 month honeymoon in Heidelberg, Germany.  When my 2 years of service in the Army was over, I returned to the Fire Department, where I have been for the last 41 years.  Come next Spring, Lord willing, I will hang up my boots for the last time.

I have never lost my love for gymnastics and diving.  I was the diving coach at Vanderbilt in 1969 - 1970.  I continued for a number of years after high school to perform with Coach Hanvey's gymnastics team at Lipscomb's Homecoming basketball games.

Brenda and I will be married 40 years in December.  We have two children: Jeff, our son who is also a firefighter (I might add that this makes three generation: my dad, me, and Jeff) and our daughter, Tracye, who chose the nursing profession.

We have 4 grandsons and 1 granddaughter.  Their ages range from 16 years to 4 years.  Needless to say, they keep us quite busy.

Brenda works at Gospel Advocate in customer service.  She has been with the Advocate for 15 years.

Our family worships at Pleasant Hill church of Christ, where we are active members, and I have served as an elder for the past 17 years.

I am really looking forward to our reunion.  I cherish the memories that we all share at DLHS.
